Replacement Scentsy Light Bulbs

11 July 2014 By LA 4 Comments

Where to Get Replacement Scentsy Light Bulbs

Scentsy candle warmers melt our wax using a 15, 20 or 25 watt light bulb. You can find replacement Scentsy light bulbs at many home improvement stores – although just be sure that you get the correct wattage for your particular warmer.

You also need to get the ones with the small candelabra base. You do not want to use an appliance bulb. It looks similar in shape to a 15 watt bulb, but it’s not the same watt. Be prepared to pay a little more at the home improvement store.

A better option is to get Replacement Scentsy light bulbs through us – you can stock up and order more wax while you’re at it.  We sell ours 3/$5. Get yours here or by clicking on the image below.

Scentsy Warmer Stops Working

21 July 2013 By LA 28 Comments

If your Scentsy candle warmer stops working don’t worry, it’s generally an easy fix.

scentsy black warmerOn occasion electrical appliances stop working. Scentsy candle warmers are no exception. Fortunately it’s rare, but not unheard of.  There are a couple of things to check.

***If you’ve done the self-diagnostics below and your Scentsy warmer still isn’t working, contact the consultant who sold the warmer. If that person is no longer with Scentsy, contact customer service at 877-855-0617.***

If your Scentsy warmer stops working all together:

  1. Change the light bulb
  2. Check to ensure the light bulb is securely screwed in
  3. Make sure the plug didn’t come loose from the wall
  4. Try a different outlet
  5. Hit the reset button on your outlet if it’s a GFI

Those may seem like a BGO (Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious) but you’d be amazed how many times it’s one of those five issues above that has caused warmers to stop working.

If your Scentsy warmer still works, but doesn’t melt all the wax:

  1. Check the light bulb. Most importantly ensure it’s the right wattage. Scentsy wall unit, plug-in candle warmers use a 15 watt bulb. The midsize and three piece warmers such as the older Hokey Pokey or Cupcake warmers use a 20 watt bulb. Our standard, full size uses a 25 watt bulb.   You can get replacement bulbs from your consultant or many home repair stores and superstores carry them. It is very important you replace it with the correct wattage. This is the most common reason warmers stop melting the wax fully.   You need to get the bulbs with the small candelabra base.
  2. Make sure you don’t have too much wax in there. Generally one or two cubes are plenty. One Scentsy candle bar contains eight cubes.
  3. Look for drafts. Drafts from windows, fans, vents or air returns can greatly affect the way your warmer melts the wax.   Move it to a different location if you suspect drafts may be the problem. This is another common reason why wax doesn’t melt the way it used to.

If You Have the Kind of Scentsy Warmer Without a Light Bulb

If you have a warmer that doesn’t use a light bulb to warmer the wax, that is called an Element warmer. It uses a hot plate style. If your element warmer stops working, there are no parts that can be replaced on that one. Instead it will fall under our lifetime warranty. Use the information below to help you with the warranty issue:

Scentsy’s Lifetime Replacement Warranty

Scentsy products come with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty for manufacturer’s defects. A customer who has a product that is damaged in shipping from Scentsy, has a manufacturer’s defect, or has an indication of an electrical issue may return it, with no limitation in time, for repair or replacement through their Consultant who originally sold it or directly through Scentsy by calling Consultant Support.

Why it Seems Like Candle Scents Fade

16 April 2013 By LA Leave a Comment

The following information was recently shared by the CEO of a Direct Sales Candle Company. It is relevant information to any candle company.   It was in response to a discussion about how it appears some people enjoy candle scents when they are first warmed or burned but then it seems like the scent goes away quickly. Actually that may not be the case. Read the explanation below – I found it fascinating, and hope you do too.

Fragrance is a molecule that is released in the air. When there is a fragrance molecule in the air, it hits receptors in the nose. Everyone has thousands in their nose. If the scent hits your receptors in certain patterns/formulas – our brains interpret them in a certain way. (Ex. if receptors x y z all hit at the same time – your brain would register that as “skunk” or “roses”, etc).

cantsmellEveryone has different set of receptors – some smell more acutely than others. When people are exposed to fragrances – the same over and over again, generally because we like to melt our favorites – the receptors can get overloaded. Your body can get immune to it – become anosmic to fragrance. (Similar to drug addicts needing more and more).

Candle companies don’t have to make any changes to their in-house formulas.   It’s something that happens with the ‘sniffer’ not the wax.   It’s the same thing as when people sometimes go away on vacation, but then come back home and really smell it the same wax that they previously complained wasn’t scented as strongly. Same as smokers who tend to lose their sense of smell but then quit smoking and suddenly smell more. [Read more…] about Why it Seems Like Candle Scents Fade
